As I had said in my journal, here it is. The Space Ship tutorial. It is, as of the moment of me writing this, only the modeling part of the tutorial. I hope to get the second part of it created soon. Again, this is what I've written so far of the tutorial. There is more to come. This file will be revisiting your inboxes a few times.
If you find this useful, liked it, or have a problem with it, please do tell me.
Edit: Hit Download to view. I semi-fail at life when uploading. Who knew DA HATES doc files with a passion.
Edit 7-12-10 : Two things
First, I've changed the file that is up to a zip archive that includes the pdf version, a .doc version for those who may have issues with .pdf, all the images used in the tutorial, and a few various .mb files that are from various stages of the tutorial.
Second, it has also come to my attention that some of the tools may or may not be the same (name or location) as newer versions. When this was originally created, it was created roughly 4-5 versions ago with Maya 8.0 so the change in tools does not surprise me. I haven't looked it over yet myself to see if there is something off, but if there is, PLEASE, feel free to correct and tell me. I'm still working in Maya and trying to get my animation bachelors degree, so I use the program constantly. I also have helped quite a few people with the program as well and have been debating going into the tutoring program that is at my college as a tutor.
Wordpad sometimes loads .doc files, but any fancy editing and pictures will usually be lost. The lost images might not be a bad thing, except over half the tutorial is images...
There are two options I can think of that could be done that would allow you to look through it without a loss of images. First, would be to re-try installing a pdf viewer of some kind. Second would be to install a alternative to the microsoft office package that can open .doc files, such as Open Office.
Meh, not that much of a pain. I'm usually called on as the tech guy whenever my friends have issues with their computers. So far, I've delt with everything from typical viruses to fried motherboards and almost everything in between. This was just a minor bump at the worst.
Either way, I've found the original .doc file along with the maya files that should go along with it. I've zipped them up into a single zip file. I'm going to try to add them to this submission, but, if I can't, what would be the prefered way you'd like me to send them to you?
I've just finished updating the files a few seconds ago. I knew DA does allow zip files, but the system can be picky as to what categories they can be under. I had a hard time finding one a while back when I wanted to put a little game I made in my gallery.
This looks easy enough to follow from what i saw while glancing through the tutorial. Im just starting maya so hopefuly this will help me start. Thanks for the tutorial
Though I think word pad loads word documents

Thank you ever so much for all this, and sorry for being a technical pain in the bum,
